See you in September

September is here!!! The oppressive heat in Las Vegas is but a distant memory and my body, brain, and nervous system are thrilled to once again get outside! The feeling of freedom and the blessings of personal choice are present, along with the relief that Michael and I survived with our sense of humor intact ready to forge ahead with our business, social life, and daily walks.

The following quote from an August 1, 2025 article from the BBC Newsletter about what a hotter world is doing to our brains by Theres Lüthi, basically posits the following, “But exactly how rising temperatures affect our brains are still being investigated by scientists. Heat affects people in very different ways – some thrive in hot weather, others find it unbearable. "Different factors might be relevant for this differential sensitivity, and one of them may be genetic susceptibility," says Sisodiya. Genetic variants could influence the structures of proteins that might render some people more vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

"There may be thermo-latent phenotypes that will only become apparent when those environmental pressures are sufficient to bring them out," he says. "What we're seeing today in people with neurological disorders could become relevant for people without neurological disorders as climate change progresses."

Interesting, scary, is it true? It may make sense.

What about Hot Yoga? I love the heat/yoga practice combination. It can get quite intense as the collective heat and humidity increases, leading to a state of mild euphoria at the completion of the class. I would love to know the effects of this on my and my fellow yogi’s brains.

Saunas? Sweat Lodges? Hmmm…

I remember running mundane errands, like going to the market as an example, and coming home exhausted, feeling depleted, with a slight headache. We were told that this was a mild Summer with temps last year climbing as high as 120 degrees F. “Hotter than Hades” as stated by a friend 🔥

Next year, we plan to travel to cooler climes for a good part of the Summer, which is what any seasoned Las Vegas resident with the financial means to do so does. Fingers crossed folks that this plan comes to fruitition, but for now we are excited to embrace the best months in Vegas ahead - cool, clear, sunny, and Viva Las Vegas Vibrant 💛✨
